The Print Science Designer support design templates created as SVG files. When using the Designer with SVG templates, your customers will have much more flexibility in modifying elements of the template than they would when using a PDF template. By default, all items can be moved, enlarged, rotated and have their colors changed.
This video demonstrates how to create an SVG file in Illustrator:
When you upload an SVG template file, the Designer will analyze the different components constitute the design and will display all these individual components to you.
The image below shows the SVG component list for a certain design. Each individual graphic shape, each line of text and each grouped clipart will be shown in the list. It is not unusual for the list to contain a number of empty components. For certain components, you will have the option modifying the behavior of the component, this video demonstrates this process:
For certain graphics components, you will want to give the customer the option to display a gallery from which the customer can choose the graphic they prefer. For any graphic component, you can choose to allow the customer to choose display a gallery from which the customer will choose by checking the checkbox with label "Override component" and then selecting the clipart gallery that will be displayed to the customer:
The video below illustrates the what the customer sees for a component that has been connected to a clipart gallery:
For each single line of text in the SVG file, you will have the option of configuring the Designer to treat that text in 2 different ways:
When text is treated as ordinary graphics, customers can resize, move and rotate the artwork. However, they cannot change the contents of the text nor can they change the font face. The dropdown labeled "Component type" controls whether the text is treated as graphics or as editable text. In the example below, the component is configured to be treated as graphics:
When text is editable, customers can modify the contents of the text, modify the font face, size, fill color and stroke color. In addition, customers can resize, move and rotate the artwork. The dropdown labeled "Component type" controls whether the text is treated as graphics or as editable text. In the example below, the component is configured to be treated as editable text:
