Certain controls are available at the template level:
When the control is enabled, your customers will be able to add new text blocks to the product.
When the control is enabled, your customers will be able to add new image blocks to the product.
In certain cases, you may want to ensure that all the text blocks on a certain page use same color. For each template, there is a checkbox that enables color synchronization.
When Color Synchronization is enabled, a change in the color of one text block is reflected in all other text blocks. The color synchronization functions for both the 216-patch color selector as well as for named colors. The video below illustrates the color synchronization of text blocks:
Display TrimBox and SafeBox Guidelines
In order to help your customer place his content so as to minimize the risk that the content will be cut away in the guillotine, you may want to display Trim Box and "Safe Box" guidelines to your customer. In the configuration of each template, you will see checkboxes to enable the display of these boxes.
The Designer server automatically detects the TrimBox in the template PDF. You can configure the distance between the TrimBox and the Safe box. If your template does not contain a TrimBox that is correctly configured, then you cannot enable the display of the TrimBox or Safe Box.
When enabled, the TrimBox is displayed in red and the Safe Box is displayed in blue. The colors used to display the TrimBox and the Safe Box are not configurable.
Your customer can toggle the display of the TrimBox and Safe Box by clicking the buttons 'Display Guidelines' and 'Hide Guidelines' at the top of the page.
When you upload a template file to the Designer server, the Designer server automatically creates a thumbnail image of each page in the template PDF. If you have uploaded multiple template files into a single product, when your customer starts the Designer session for the product, the Designer will display the Designs panel to the customer. This Designs panel displays the various thumbnail images for each product to the customer so that the customer can choose the template he would like to use. The image below displays an example of the Designs panel:
For certain template files, the thumbnail image automatically created by the server can appear to be too "empty". The image below is a thumbnail image created automatically. The right side of this thumbnail image is empty of text:
In the case where you feel that the thumbnail image automatically created is not a flattering image, you can manually create an image and upload this image. Below is an example of a thumbnail image created manually and uploaded to the server:
In the Designs panel displayed below, you can see the manually uploaded thumbnail image:
